Matt Hidalgo

leggiero tenor, is a graduate of Sacramento State with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Matt performs regularly throughout the Sacramento region as tenor soloist and is a familiar face with many top performing groups and teaches voice lessons in Sacramento and Roseville, CA. 

Matt is a versed performer of oratorio, opera, concert music. Recently, Matt performed the U.S. premier of Rowland Lee’s Requiem. He has also performed various works by JS Bach, W.A. Mozart, James DeMars, Joseph Haydn, George F. Handel, Claudio Monteverdi, and Camille Saint Saëns. A competition winner, Matt won the Sacramento State Music Department’s Concerto Competition, including the opportunity to perform Benjamin Britten’s Serenade for Horn, Tenor, and Strings. Matt can also be heard as a featured soloist in SCSO’s CD recording, Lest we Forget. 

In 2015, Matt made his operatic debut with Sacramento Opera, performing the role of Eddie Pensier in The Bremen Town Musicians. Since then, Matt has performed in many operatic roles such as Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Rinucco in Puccini’s Gianni Schicci, Paulino in Cimarosa’s Il Matrimonio Segreto, Pluto & Mercury in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, Todd Wilkins in Paulus’ The Village Singer, Luis in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Gondoliers, Tamino in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote, and Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. 

 

Currently, Matt studies with the internationally renowned Mezzo-Soprano, Susanne Mentzer. Matt resides in Sacramento, CA., karaoke enthusiast, dog lover, and coffee connoisseur.
